Knights Lose to Boomers, 5-2 | Boston Boomers starter Willie McGill pitched a strong game against the New York Knights at Recreation Park 1885-1890, leading the Boomers to victory, 5-2. McGill got the win, improving to 8-9. He allowed 9 hits and walked 0 over 8.2 innings. McGill allowed 2 runs. Jose Castillo was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 20 of 24 save opportunities.
Jocko Milligan hit a 3-run home run off Bert Cunningham in the bottom of the third, which put the Boomers ahead, 4-1. In addition to the homer, Milligan had 1 double, while going 2 for 3.
