| Thunder Ducks Get One-Run Win at Capital | Los Angeles picked up a win at Oriole Park, toppling the Capital Congressmen, 4-3. Pitcher Ad Gumbert was one of the reasons the Thunder Ducks triumphed. The winning pitcher was Gumbert, now 6-3. He tossed 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 4. Roy Face got the save, his 31st in 40 chances.
In the top of the fourth of a scoreless game, Gumbert hit a 3-run home run to put his team ahead.
"The fans pay the tickets and help us do what we do, so we like to put on a show for them," Gumbert told the Los Angeles Chronicle.
The first-place Congressmen have dropped 4 straight games.
