Hughes Mows Down St. Louis in No-Hitter | In a brilliant performance at Recreation Park 1885-1890, Boston pitcher Mickey Hughes entered an elite group by tossing a no-hitter today against the St. Louis Wolves.
In the effort, he fanned 6 and walked 3, leading the Boomers to a 14-1 victory.
"I was getting my off-speed stuff over so they couldn't sit on the fastball," Hughes said in the clubhouse after the game. "My guys made some nice plays behind me and cut off several hits, too."
In the current season in 18 starts, Mickey Hughes has a record of 8-7 with 121 strikeouts in 133.2 innings and a 4.51 ERA. | |
