Knights Beat St. Louis, 9-8 | St. Louis designated hitter Blondie Purcell was sensational. He went 3-3 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. New York beat the Wolves, 9-8. Togie Pittinger was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 17 of 18 save opportunities. New York raised its record to 54-25 with the win.
New York used the timely hitting of Jack Clements to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Knights on top, 9-8. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It was a nice win for our side today," said Knights manager Reagan Rothe. "Not perfect, but we'll take it." | | | | |
