Stein Guns Downs 17 Vampires
Led by an outstanding performance from starter Ed Stein, the Boston Boomers topped the Creepy Hollow Vampires today by a score of 4-3 at Recreation Park 1885-1890. The 21-year-old Stein brought his top game to the mound, striking out 17 batters while allowing 8 hits and giving up 5 walks.

"He made a lot of good pitches out there," Vampires manager Tom Loftus said. "He made some of our guys look bad. We didn't help matters, but we really have to give him credit -- he didn't make many mistakes."

Stein has made 13 starts, tossed 100.1 innings, struck out 135 batters and walked 37. His record is 8-5 with a 4.13 ERA and he has limited other teams to a .214 batting average.
