Martinez Spins 3-0 Shutout Against Hoboken | The Bay City Bluebirds did little to support starter Ramon Martinez against the Hoboken Zephyrs, but it turned out he didn't need the help.
The right-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Zephyrs, striking out 13 and surrendering 3 hits. The performance from Martinez allowed Bay City to escape with the 3-0 win despite an anemic offense.
"Nobody came to me and said 'Ramon, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Martinez told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."
Thus far this season, Martinez has tossed 98 innings in 14 starts, fanned 133 batters, walked 39 and put up a 4.68 ERA with 7 wins and 5 losses. | | | | |
