The impending free agent turned in a dominant season with the Cedar Grove Renegades in 1904 and has won the Southern League Reliever of the Year Award.
With his contract situation unclear for next season, it appears his dominant performance will have him poised to command big money.
For the year, the 30-year-old native of Batesville, Arkansas put up a 3.09 ERA, over 64 innings of work. He made 45 relief appearances and had 14 saves, 78 strikeouts, 28 walks and a record of 4-8.
He received 20 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Mike Hartley of the Peapack & Gladstone Poison Toads finished second in voting, while Mike Gardiner of the Chula Vista Flying Squirrels finished third.
